Once again, we come to the Holiday Season...
Celebrating...
The tradition of thanksgivings....
The beauty of the season
And the season of blessedness, and togetherness...
Of family and friends...
The young and the old
The dear... the very dear.
On an extra chilly day,
but surrounded by warmth and
the comfort of our home...
And food galore too....
much culinary interest....
and hours spent in the kitchen
preparing food
eating
laughing
singing songs....
making jokes...
old jokes heard ten thousand times
but never out of time...
With the power to still make us laugh
with gusto... and real joy
The joy of family being reunited...
And some new recipes to celebrate this occasion with an
amalgamation
of turkey and green fried plantains.
Gathering around the festive table...
And taking a good look at those who broke bread with me...
What a special Thanksgiving Day this was... a prayer answered;
a dream come true after so many years of dreaming...
You see, because we lived in such cold and
far away place, it was hard for our family to come to our house for the
holidays... in fact, in all of our
married years they never did. We
were always the ones having to travel South so that we could be together for
the holidays. But this year my dream has
finally come true... although neither our dear daughter and her family; nor our
youngest son could be here this Thanksgiving Day, we had the blessing of having
our oldest son and his little family here, our dear granddaughter, and mom and
dad and my sister Lissette and her boys in my own home for the first time ever... and I the host,
the cook, the daughter, the sister, the wife, the mother, the healer of the
soul and the little repairer of broken wings... giving thanks to our Creator; the giver of all things and
everything... the real founder of the Thanksgiving feast.
I hope you all had a blessed Thanksgiving Day!
how beautiful! I am happy for you, and I too have much gratitude....so nice to have family nearby...

ReplyDeleteI am so glad they got to travel to your lovely home. We also missed a few people this year but the love goes on and I am thankful for the time I have with each of my loved ones.
