Welcome February!

We've been enjoying some life rejuvenating warmth under the Florida sun this weekend... marvelous gorgeous weather, and now are back to a superrrr burrrr cold home!

But that's OK...
After all...
this is just the beginning of February, right!

So this is how it goes:
Thick comfy PJs and socks...
steaming hot cup of tummy-warming soul goodness
in my favorite cup...

February is a tricky month...
Tauntingly hanging on for too long...

Here's when we get sick with the desire for the sun
And the grasses on the wood behind our home lay low and quiet.

But this is just the beginning of winter...
So "keep your faith in beautiful things;
in the sun when it is hidden,
in the Spring when it is gone."
(Roy R. Gibson)

Be good to others...
Be good to yourself

Make something...
enjoy something...
paint a flower
plant a seed
write a poem
sing a song...
or just make your own cook book!

You can do it too,
Make your own cook book,
or whatever you want
 using your own photographs....

And of course, even during winter time...
particularly during winter time...
a girl must have one or two roses on her table...

Like jewels on her neck...
the more the merrier...
I love to have a bouquet or two or three of fresh roses in the house
Just like it used to be back at the house in the roses
but sometimes life takes you on a different direction
and that's when
faux just makes more sense
and that's OK with me...

So here's to February!

Keep warm

And keep a happy attitude within your heart!

Hugs

Cielo

  1. Cielo did you make your own cookbook!??!?!? what a brilliant Idea! I love it and I love yours! did you do those drawings too like the candle flame? how does one do that ??
I'm glad you 'gave permission' to use faux roses.....I have been torn with that. Being a florist and a purist doesn't allow for faux anything but practicality says, when no flowers nor funds can be had then faux must be a satisfactory dream in the meantime, yes?
And what is that precious elixir in your cup? not merely cafe con leche is it? I've been into hot chocolate lately
but not just any hot chocolate, organic hot chocolate a la Chocolat, the Mayan Elixir of Goddesses! :D . I am perfecting a recipe. Did you know there is such a thing as Chocolate Pots?! I knew about coffee and tea pots,
but when I saw chocolate pots, especially those antiques from Prussia, I could not get offline for 2 weeks! I am going to make a post on this when my recipe is perfected. :D:D:D I am getting a couple of pots for my B'day:D
I have some very unusual roses at the moment. I bought them nearly 2 weeks ago and they have not even bent their necks....no...and when I went to change their water, I saw every single one was sprouting lots of fresh greenery! I've only seen a few stems do this and none of them have survived but these white roses with lots of fresh growing greenery are still going and going......loving it!

  2. Hello Cielo. Happy Sunday. How great that you got to enjoy a bit of the Florida warmth. It has been a very cold winter this year. I love the idea of hanging in my PJ's all day and sipping nice cup of coffee or chocolate. I love all the china. It is such a treat for the eye. A cookbook sounds like an amazing idea. I love to cook and have collected many recipes through the years but I would not know how to get one done. Beautiful photos mi querida Cielo.

  4. What a blessing for you to be able to spend some time under the healing warmth of the Florida sunshine, Cielo! It's so good for the soul during this cold, dreary time of year. :) I am hoping that February flies by quickly because our winter has been so very brutal, so very depressing for me this year. We have 30"of snow on the ground!! Too much snow, too many cloudy days, too many sub-zero nights..... :( I pray that spring makes her appearance sooner rather than later! :)

  8. Rainy cold gray blah day here too... last night it rained buckets, Noah's Ark and all the waters of the Genesis flood narrative... really! And how lovely the sound of rain on my ear when in that cloud of a bed... love it!

  9. Hello Cielo, Have enjoyed visiting your blog many times and following your transition and complex feelings moving to a new state. Your ability to find beauty and inspiration and translate that into photos for all of us to enjoy is a wonderful thing. Could you please also provide me the name of the book featured which has nature quotes for each month?

  10. A happy post to cheer us during dark February. Love your roses. It has been the kind of winter I remember from my childhood... Long, snowy, and dark. I have enjoyed the extra time. But I worry with all the snow... Not everyone can stay indoors.

    1. Gayla.... I haven't been outside since I came back from FL... it's been really wintery here and I hear there's more snow on its way to the South.... I cannot believe it! Was it me really bringing all that snow from the house in the roses? :)

      Hugs to you my friend
