May you have a lovely day

A long time ago I discovered that I love blogging… so I hope you don’t mind finding me here this often. The truth is I believe there’s a special blessing in capturing lovely moments through photography.  Photographs have the power to recreate and relive glorious and simple moments in our lives over and over again, and for evermore through the ages.

Aside from photography, I also love gardening and fluffing up my nest and dreaming a lot too. Thus, it is only natural for me to combine all these likings into a potpourri of joy and feathers, and shimmers, and then come here and share them with you, just the way they come out straight from the heart… Thank you for coming back.

I wonder what was Lily Elsie thinking here when she posed for this photograph over a hundred years ago… one can almost tell just by looking at her lovely expressions, don’t you think so? See what I meant about the power of photography?

It is hard to find a tablecloth out there that fits my square dinning room table… so I have to be creative and unconventional too… like using this lovely double ruffled eyelet bed skirt you see here as a tablecloth.

A burlap table runner over it for contrast and charm always helps
and then...
add a bouquet of pine branches from the woods outside and some roses
and you've got it!…
Love the combination

It rained here for days this past week… a bitter rain like icicles on my face, while a blustery wind kept busy pulling up and around all the leaves in the shrubbery and woods in the back of our house.  Boy, isn’t this supposed to be the South?  I tell you, it’s been the most estrange winter I'd ever had… and I’m tired of it too!  Can someone please open up the curtains of heaven and let the sun shine free and happy! ;)

Can you see it not?
Ah yes slowly... very slowly,
the angel in charge of letting out the sun up in heaven
is rising up the blinds and throwing open every window...

We're almost there!

Welcome back Spring!

  1. I like each of your photos, they all have a charm. Lily looks like she could be happy dining at Downton Abbey; what a beauty.

    1. Oh wouldn’t it be neat to be able to go back in time and share tea somewhere in England with people like the people of Downtown Abbey? No. With people like Mr. Darcy… oh I do I do I would share tea with Mr. Darcy no doubt about it… but what would I wear? ;)

Always nice to see you here Terra.

  2. Lovely post and the pictures are so good. Spring has arrived here in So CA very early. My iris's are blooming and the roses are full of buds - can hardly wait for them to open.
    Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. Oh, this post looks beautiful with your magical owl! I love the frills and burlap together with the pine and roses! The days of pine and roses! Ha ha! If you can come over to Oatmeal and whimsy, you will see I linked post to your blog. Of course! You inspired me to arrange and play with my jewelry! I'm getting anxious to work on the lily bed and to dig out the dead leaves around the Rose bushes. I'm believing spring is coming even tho we are going to get more snow on Wednesday! Love the new look of your blog!

  4. Cielo,
It's quite a joy to come to blogger and see you have left some new magical words for us to read, it's like you paint rainbows and moonbeams and sunshine from ordinary words! Love the photos and I think that's very clever to use the bed skirt for your table cloth, Just lovely:)
    Blessings to you,
    Teresa,

    1. Thank you Teresa... I think that God, as the Creator Himself has given us human, in a way, the ability to create. We create our own special places and the atmosphere around us and others with our aptitudes and deeds, and with our words and what we say and give, or not give… is like what Henry Ward Beecher once said: “Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures".

      Thank you for coming by.

  6. Hello Cielo- I have wanted to write to you for a while now, but never have. Your blog is the first blog I had ever read and I have always loved it. When you had the House in the roses, you had a smilebox. Could you tell me what music you used. I love it!! I know this comment is totally unrelated to this post, but I'm hoping you can tell me about that music in your smile box. Thank you Kerie

    1. Hi Kerie... the smilebox was created by Denise, from Cottage Home Decorating, for an interview she did for The house in the roses a few years back, and I don’t know what music she used. The music I had on my blog, however, was called “This Universe”, from Singh Kaur. It is such a lovely and soothing music. I love it so much I bought the CD, plus a second one, also from Sigh Kaur.

Here’s the link where you can find that CD:

      Thank you
