On a rainy day...

I am made out of rain—born out of the color gray and overcast days, and strange clouds with names such "Melancholy", and "Misty". That must be the reason why rainy days and I share an identical soul...
I love it... I love rain.  And it's been raining here for days... but it's not just rain, or any type of rain.  It is an enchanting type of rain; a type of a misty dew that covers the land in gloomy grays sprinkled with tiny bright stars... a rain so giving, so nurturing that one almost cannot help but feel happy; wrapped in divine inspiration and holy thoughts...  That's how I see rainy days anyways...
The rain called me into the woods the other day...

I heard its voice, and I followed it.

A Presence stirred all around me... wherever I moved, or walk, wherever I turned with me it went... with me it was... surrounding me, always by my side; forever with me...  a Presence bigger than I.  Deeper than my thoughts.  A whisper; a lullaby... a wind rushing through the thick.
It was the voices of the sassafras and the sourwoods, and it was the songs of the redbuds and the hymns of the thorny mayhaws...

And birds... birds must love rainy days too.  You see, the woods that lays beyond our home is wet, and supple with life-renovated moisture, and birds, in their rainy home the woods, seem to love this rain too.   They are as enchanted by rain as I am.

I love watching them fluttering from rain drop to rain drop... diving like they do from the canopy of the trees down... down to the wood's floor, almost in a mystical and fiery type of dance. They have finally found me you see.  The birds.  They have discovered my birdfeeders and birdbaths and they've been coming continuously for a while now...

And I am... I am delightfully astounded by the beauty of my new friends....  oh I am!  For who would had thought I would have friends with blood red feathers and sky sapphire wings?

I am static with joy and thankful for these new friends... so different from my dear feathered friends at the house in the roses... so exotic in appearances; extravagant in color...  watching them it truly is a privilege... really, I can be here all day long, under my magical tree all day long... waiting, dreaming, hoping, anticipating magic to enfold and drench my soul in possibilities...

 Good night my friend!

Rainy day... Where others might find gloomy sadness.... You find magic and delights and inspiration...

And that is one reason we have to read here... You give something to Pretty Blog Land, which no one else gives.

And we love, that total you.

  4. Lovely post. And you have found the birds. Love the Cardinals and the blue birds. We don't see the blue birds a lot. We need to buy bird seed. One of my favorite things to do all winter is to watch the birds feed at the bird feeders. There times at the feeders seem to coincide with our meal times and we watch through the dining room window. Rainy days are a good time to stay in with a book :)

  5. Cardinals and blue birds.... I never saw them in my magical garden up north in the house in the roses... What a delight they are. I could stay all day long watching them... is it cold where you are? Freezing here... I cannot believe it could get this cold here too... but no snow, of course. In a way, I miss snow and the magic of it... but that's OK. I'm happy without it.

  6. Cielo, I'm so glad they have found you, it was only a matter of minutes, yes? :D it is enchanting how you describe the rains. I too have a moist melancholy soul who loves the liquid crystal falling and nourishing everything I myself have planted, there was nothing here before but dead pasture when I moved in. I need more statuary, but birds? we have the lot! lol....I love that you are feeling enchantment there, I knew it would happen and waited with a smile....glad to see it!
