Creativity and a little story...

I love decorating my home with branches from trees growing in my very own back yard. They're always at hand, always beautiful in whatever vase you place then in...

I love the young fir trees growing in the woods behind our home.  They're everywhere, and they flexible young branches are perfect for cutting.  I love how their green branches get bathed in the warm light of the sun, and how the green needle-shaped leaves hold itty bitty stars on rainy days, after the rain stops and the woods get watered down... I cut some yesterday and brought them in...

For some inexplicable reason as I was cutting fir branches all of a sudden I saw Mama Luna in the depths of my mind—the dark Spanish eyes illuminated by wisdom, roses pinned in shinny dark hair... old legends and myths dancing in her tongue and hands...

Mama Luna used to say that the beauty of a woman's soul can only shine through her when she is being herself, and always always reminded us to be who we are regardless the circumstances or people surrounding us.

"Never bend and fold into shapes that are not yours", she would say... "it isn't wise to insist on being a butterfly if you are a bird".  Mama Luna was so right. Certainly, there's a difference between things that beckon to us and things that call from our souls.  We should not be afraid to live our life in our truest self.

Any way... what was I saying?  Ah yes, I spent my Sunday afternoon playing with my jewelry.

Do you like shiny, sparkly, glittery things?   I do! I love all sorts of girly blings and sparkly things...  jewelry isn't just good for dressing up an outfit... it can also dress up a bedroom, or a bathroom...  display them in creative ways.  A tarnished teapot to display your gypsy bangles and necklaces... love it!

Integrate your favorite pieces into your bedroom decor for prettiness and easy accessibility..

Why hide them?  Colorful necklaces and sparkling earrings can add character to a dressing area

That's it for today... I hope you enjoyed my little story and photographs... ask me, if you want to know more about the enigmatic Mama Luna.  I have so many stories to share...  oh and can I ask you for a favor?  It seems that some of my friends and readers from the house in the roses are having a hard time finding me in my new home and I would love if you would advertise my new place in your blog...  a huge thank YOU for doing this!

Good night everyone!

  2. I will tell you that I have been quite restless, a little blue, fretting and edgy... Unhappy with myself mainly. Winter blahs. I woke up here at 2:10 and had such an odd, stray thought. I wonder if Cielo has written something I could take as a message? I thought about Mama Luna and her advice to be true to myself. Thank you for a beautiful post... I'd love to hear all your stories of Mama Luna! You are on my side bar. I'm sure all your travelers will find their way to the here and now from the house in the roses...

  4. Happy Friday Eve.....for those of us that work in the world of muggles. this is a much anticipated day.. just one more day and we are free....Love all your "pretties" as my grandma used to call them. I love vintage jewelry and was lucky enough to be given many pieces from my aunt, who inherited it from her mother-in-law. The rhinestone jewelry from the 1940's and 1950's. It's so beautiful...I got to wear a brooch and earring set to a wedding I recently attended and it was the perfect accessory to a 1950's style cocktail dress I wore. It's so fun to be a girl and dress up. I put the pins on purses and scarves too.
Your Mama Luna was a very wise woman....please share her stories with us more often... I heard a quote the other day that pertains to what she said......"Why spend you life trying to blend in when you were born to stand out".....I love that......who wants to be just like everyone else....I come from a family of people who always worry about being different or "what will people think"....I used to think I must have been adopted or left on my parents doorstep, because I just don't fit in. Now I am older and I don't worry about it anymore. I think you should always be yourself and if your family and friends truly care about you they should treasure your uniqueness.
Have a wonderful weekend and share more of your stories and lovely pictures with us soon.

  5. My Momma Luna was a tough old bird. She survived insurmountable odds and remained mentally sound . She would say, "Let's sleep under the stars tonight!" And me and my sisters would put the old,..smelly piece of foam rubber from the basement, throw it out under the cherry tree . And we would be so ready for her to visit us,.. and tell us her heroic stories,.. they were true. And they taught us to be strong ,and to love life and nature and the one , that gave it to us, and to feel, and smell, and appreciate everything in the earth! She taught us that people can be cruel,..but the world we were given was not suppose to be that way, we can help fix it. That was my Momma Luna!!!!
    Sincerely Kristi,.
