Rainy day and Modge Podge day

I grew up with flowers in my hair and dirt on my knees. And I still do... I do!  So you can imagine how excited my little heart is with all those big thoughts in my head of spring, and hands and feet dirty with sunshine and hair and skin tattooed in petals. But we’re not there yet are we? And thus, I must wait.

We woke up today with the sound and lushness of rain… do you like rain?

I must have been born on a rainy day for sure.
My soul is made of rain.

My eyes searches the woods around our home for the sparkle of Rain’s jewels reflecting on leaves and branches as my soul awaits to discover the magic of raindrops.

Everything looks enchantingly magical when it rains… a cloudiness-like a veil of magic embraces the supple earth, and I can imagine trees and bushes and all that brush as lovely damsels of yesterdays on their way to the public bath house, with its classical columns and arches, mosaic floor and ceiling, the place where they used to go to socialize and laugh and talk about their boyfriends and gossip about their rivals, as well as getting clean.

Do you feel like me sometimes?
Oh I am walking barefoot in a time full of people with fancy shoes.
I am a gypsy soul living in the wrong time and world

Oh the yellow daffodils are everywhere around here… it is surprising and almost hard to believe that this is still February and my lovely big square table is already looking lovelier adorned by daffodils right out of the garden.

Bright-sun yellow lively beautiful daffodils.  A sure sign of sprig.

And did you notice something else?  Daffodils have certainly woken up my creative juices… so I got out my Modge Podge yesterday and made these cuties… rose decorated flower pots!

Love them!  I also decorated a couple of books too... real lovely.  But I’ll show them to you later.

Earlier in the winter I bought two miniature roses, an Indian Hawthorn shrub and a Snowball azalea—leftovers from the previous summer, but they were on sale, and I was so anxious to plant that I had to get them.  Since this is just a rented home, I planted them all in large pots so that I can take them with me later when we find a home, and I’ve been taking good care of them protecting them from all that snow and cold weather.  Thus far they’re doing great.  Can hardly wait to see them bloom!

Is anything blooming in your little world yet?

Wishing you an enchanted day wherever you are!

  1. It's been warm here in Orlando, although flowers bloom all year long here. I have roses, and beautiful camelia's blooming. Your daffodils sure are pretty! I am wondering how you liked the cottage you and your husband were going to look at? Spring is right around the corner!!

  2. Dear Cielo, I am a new follower and I am so very excited I found you! You are enchanting and you paint a gorgeous canvas with your words. I'm in Southern California. We went from summer to spring in my corner and I have a few blossoms of roses, lavender, calendula and sweet peas starting. Your daffodils are lovely and your pots are beautiful. So inspiring, yes you are! xo Jen

  4. Cielo, your word are so lovely and made me feel so good. Here in Southern CA we really have not had winter. We need rain so baldy and yea yea we are getting it starting tomorrow evening. I will probably be dancing in the rain.
I have quite a few plants in bloom - iris - roses just started -calle lillies - nasturtiums and my love in the mist is really growing. My two Camilla bushes are a very pretty red and full of blooms and of course all my orchids are either blooming or getting ready to.
Your pots are so pretty with the roses on them - I will have to try to make a few.
Thanks so much for your lovely post.

    1. I so love to read what's blooming out there, what others are planting and collecting and enjoying... it is a pleasure reading about your roses and pretty red bushes in full blooms. It makes me happy. Thank you for sharing your stories with me.

      Blessings

    2. so many California girls visiting today....we're just a little jealous of your beautiful snowy wonderland. Its been so warm here in San Diego for so long my wisteria has bloomed 2 months early. It is my favorite as I only get to see the beautiful purple blooms once a year.
The big black bumble bees are all over it, attracted by the sweet scent. My roses have started to bloom here and there.. Love my garden, but it doesn't hold a candle to the House in the Roses. That was a perfect garden that grew from your heart.
      Wishing you sunshine and warmth.....Sherry

    3. Well, I know exactly what you mean about "the candle and the house in the roses", and I say it more for me than anything else, because I know how especial and marvelous and glorious that little garden in the roses was… and it is hard to accept that I’ll never have anything like it again... ohhh.

    4. maybe not exactly the same, but you will have another special garden and it will be beautiful also. As long as you have your head in the stars and your heart in the flowers you will create another haven full of magic, and visitors from all realms will come to visit because they are drawn to you.....patience my friend.

  5. was just visiting the house in the roses and looking at some of your old posts and what do I come across, but Alba, She is so beautiful and regal I don't know how the villagers cold possibly be afraid of her or think she was a witch. Have you ever seen the movie called "LadyHawke"...old from 1985 but I guarantee you will love it Cielo especially the lovely Isabeau.

    1. Alba... oh Alba would I ever see you again? Oh I’m hoping, and dreaming too, that Alba will discover me among the hostas by our little pond some day… yes, I’ll have to share the news about our little white cottage in the woods and that awesome pond and and and… OK I can’t share anymore about it yet because nothing is absolutely for sure ours yet… but hoping it will be soon.
